We are pleased to launch Climate Finance Watch Blog, a platform dedicated to critically examining the flows, gaps, and politics of climate finance, with a particular focus on India.
Climate finance has emerged as a cornerstone of global climate governance. Whether in negotiations under the UNFCCC, in national budgetary priorities, or in local adaptation projects, the allocation and accountability of financial resources determine not only the pace but also the equity of climate action. Yet, discussions on climate finance are often highly technical, fragmented, and inaccessible to wider audience, including policymakers, civil society actors, and affected communities.
Climate Finance Watch Blog seeks to bridge this gap. Our aim is to provide rigorous, evidence-based analysis while remaining accessible to non-specialist readers. By tracking commitments, disbursements, and outcomes, we hope to shed light on three interrelated questions:
- Who pays, and who benefits?
- How effectively are funds being mobilised and used?
- What does climate finance mean for India’s pathways of development, justice, and resilience?
We will publish commentaries, research-based articles, interviews, and curated resources that unpack climate finance from multiple perspectives: global, national, and local. Special attention will be given to India’s unique position as both a recipient and a growing contributor in climate finance debates.
Through this effort, Climate Finance Watch aspires to be more than a blog: we hope it will evolve into a knowledge hub and a space for dialogue among academics, practitioners, and activists committed to ensuring that climate finance serves its ultimate purpose, advancing equitable and sustainable futures.
We look forward to your readership, engagement, and critique as we embark on this journey.
